TRB Paper #03-3629 A Spatial-Temporal Object Database Approach to Dynamic Segmentation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dynamic segmentation is viewed as one of the most important functions of GIS for transportation applications. Although the road network and associated events (e.g. pavement material, traffic volume and incidents) can be referenced to both space and time, the spatial and temporal dimensions has not been well integrated. This paper explores how to model space-varying, time-varying and space-time-varying events in dynamic segmentation using an object database approach that is in line with the Object Database Management Group (ODMG) standard. A mechanism, called parametric polymorphism, is utilized to lift conventional data types to spatial, temporal and spatialtemporal types for maintaining knowledge about events that could change spatially, temporally, and spatial-temporally along linear features. An associated object query language, called DS-OQL, has also been designed to support the formulation of spatial, temporal and spatialtemporal queries on the road and event information.

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images
As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...
متن کاملReal-time preprocessing and video object segmentation for high compression and content-based MPEG-4 coding
MPEG-4 video has been designed as a standard for video and audio compression, content-based functionalities, scalability of texture, images and video, shape coding, robustness in error-prone environment, and face and body animation. With all these functionalities, however, MPEG-4 still has limitations in practical software development. In this paper, we developed the frame preprocessing for rea...
متن کاملMosaic-Based Video Object Segmentation
Object segmentation is a problem within the scope of MPEG-4 standardization activities. This paper proposes a novel technique to extract the moving objects in the video sequences. Our approach is based on the integration of mosaic-based temporal segmentation and color-based spatial segmentation. The mosaic representation of video allows us to fully exploit the spatio-temporal information in the...
متن کاملAn Indexing and Searching Structure for Multimedia Database Systems
In this paper, we present a database searching structure that incorporates image processing techniques to model multimedia data. A Simultaneous Partition and Class Parameter Estimation (SPCPE) algorithm that considers the problem of video frame segmentation as a joint estimation of the partition and class parameter variables has been developed and implemented to identify objects and their corre...
متن کاملSegmentation Assisted Object Distinction for Direct Volume Rendering
Ray Casting is a direct volume rendering technique for visualizing 3D arrays of sampled data. It has vital applications in medical and biological imaging. Nevertheless, it is inherently open to cluttered classification results. It suffers from overlapping transfer function values and lacks a sufficiently powerful voxel parsing mechanism for object distinction. In this work, we are proposing an ...
